I looked this up and saw John Cameron's interview on it. Apparently this movie takes place after #2 and ignores all the other sequels.

I enjoyed part 1 because it was to me one of the best Romance films masquerading as a sci-fi thriller horror.

Part 2 for what it was was a good follow up but I preferred the original.

So this with luck won't be a complete disaster. The director made the DeadPool films which have been the best of the comic book or X-men movies IMO. Cameron seemed to be a better director when he had less money - so we'll see.

Plus I always liked the score of these films. I often find myself whistling it.
