the Oscars don't matter to me, besides that they hold better movies on the screen longer.

I never saw the thing.

Just like I never saw the reportedly excellent movie about a high fashion dressmaker with one of the top movie actors in the world playing the lead.

I just have no interests in what a pope does, or thinks in reality, so have even less interests in going to a movie about a fictional discussion between people that secure no elevated status in my world.

I think the omission of the appeal to non catholics in any discussion of the success of this movie is to overlook a major consideration.

Somewhat akin to the terrible low quality movies pitched to the born again that they all go to see, or the flick made by the scientologists that they couldn't believe turned out as a box office flop, since the story was written by Elron himself. A perspective seemingly blinded from reality.
