I thought that I had seen almost all of William Wyler's films....

Somehow though through the years I missed seeing The Big Country which "Willie" directed starring Gregory Peck, Jean Simmons, Carroll Baker, Burl Ives (in his Oscar winning role), Charlton Heston and Chuck Connors. Both Peck and Wyler were unhappy with the finished film and they shared producing credit. Peck famously walked off the set near the end of shooting and the two didn't speak again for the rest of the shoot! Wyler seemed to be unhappy with most aspects of the film including the music score. Funny that in retrospect The Big Country theme and score is regarded as one of Hollywood's best! I really liked the film and IMO it is one of the great westerns ever put on film!
