Not new, but new to me: "The Bridge of San Luis Rey" (2004)...

Saw it on DVD, and in spite of the reviews this film will stay with me much longer than all the blockbusters I've seen this year.
Ideas, poetry, Spanish and Peruvian folk sensibilities, historical drama, religious dogma - all beautifully and lovingly preserved on film.
Once I got past my phobia of indifferent craftsmanship, the play revealed itself for a masterwork of literature.
Recommended, if looking for a film experience that matures/satisfies AFTER seeing it.
