I saw it last night on BD. I didn't know anything about it except that it was highly regarded and I really enjoyed it.

It seemed to have elements of both 2001 and Blade Runner (with the 3 year life span thing) but was it's own inventive movie.

I watched it with the wife, who doesn't like Sci-Fi, and she seemed to enjoy it.
