An update for the times . . .

This one is silly (like the first) but better written. All the actresses are good as they have demonstrated in their other work. The gags are pretty much the same but there are better effects (naturally) and more witty repartee between the principles.

To me, the differences between the two centered around personality driven comedy vs. performance driven comedy. There was no Bill Murray mugging about, same for Ackroyd. This was a silly but decent script vs. just let the SNL guys loose.

Not to worry, though, the original cast all have cameos.

The only point of irritation was Hemsworth who played a dumbass and did it so badly it was tiresome--for me.

If you didn't like the trailers then don't go. If you're okay with the trailers then do go. I was okay with it but would give it a 50/50 recommendation as it is an updated retelling with an edge towards a developed story line.
