RE: You think Voyager had more wooden actors than DS9? Wow! [nt] ;-)

DS9 got better after season 4 and Garrack (Andrew Robinson) was superbly written and acted. And also probably why I stuck with it enough to get to season 4 and appreciate it more the second time around to the point where I agree with the online polls that choose DS9 as the best series.

Although I enjoyed the characters of TNG more overall. DS9 had a 3 season arc at the end that was quite engaging but it also had some of the best written episodes. But TNG had Sir Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner and that was one whale of a 1-2. Too bad the movies generally stunk.

Enterprise to me was a total train wreck. Voyager - again season 4 on got better - but the best episodes in my opinion always surrounded the Holographic Doctor (Robert Picardo) and Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan). Those two had a huge number of quality writing and interesting plot lines. If a story centered on anyone else it seemed to generally come off flat. Fortunately in the later years - more episodes seemed to focus on those two.

I think it's pretty tough for the writers to make something for each character. Kes and Neelix had some promise and then it was like the writers couldn't think of anything for them to do. I always liked the premise of the show but it really suffered early. But then even TNG - the joke has always been that it only got good once RIker got the beard. See a beard - the episode might be good - no beard probably rubbish. Certainly some good episdes in the first 2 seasons (Measure of a Man sticks out) but pretty good.

It's similar to Doctor Who - I like that show but man every season of it has a bunch of clunkers which I suppose happens when you try to appeal to a wide ranging audience. Granted Doctor Who is science fantasy not science fiction but in the ballpark.
