RE: The Dark Knight 94% fresh on the Tomato Meter

I would venture to surmise that if a viewer had previously seen "Batman Begins" and liked it then this would be the natural and intended sequel. It introduces the maniacal "Joker" character who challenges the Batman as never before.

However, if you've seen Batman Begins and did not like it, then there is no reason to see this one. It is a world that revels in homicidal maniacs dripping with their victims' blood......while grinning with evident pleasure. The Batman himself is seriously disturbed, struggling with the murder of his parents in front of him during his childhood.

It was opening night for this movie when the Aurora shooting took place See link below. A lone gunman shoots up the theater on the premier of said movie. It kind of fits, in a way. The shooter was mentally deranged just as are several characters in the Batman universe.
