RE: Last night: "Nightmare Alley", 1947

And it's the female characters who make this film work. Tyrone Power's character uses and abuses everybody, and the payback makes for a heck of a dramatic payoff. Good carnival movies are rare. La Strada and Freaks come to mind. T.P. was such a big star that he nearly overwhelms the movie with his stagecraft. He's kind of a ham. That said, I love this movie too. Can't wait for Fox to restore and remaster the movie. Great looking Noir.
