'In The Shadow of Iris': Tricky Abduction French Style
Posted by Billy Wonka on September 27, 2018 at 11:46:49:
Iris is the beautiful wife of a wealthy Parisian banker who mysteriously disappears after lunch. He frantically looks for her and gets a call from her kidnapper later in the afternoon. He agrees to pay 500K Euros for Iris but call the police unadvisedly. Soon the story evolves into a deeper mystery of a botched kidnapping and the people involved. Romain Duris (kidnapper), Charlotte Le Bon (kidnapped), and Jalil Lespert (husband banker)form a spinning triangle interrupted by streetwise detectives who are romantically linked.
The plot roils with tricks as the angry, desperate Duris tries to sort things out and collect the money he needs. The caper unwinds in a typically French way with all parties less than fulfilled.
3 wonks for twists and skewed glances
2 wanks an uninspired script
