I wouldn't buy a TV based on it though.
In our living room we have a 50" plasma. The TV is say 1' from the wall, we sit around 1 1/2' from the other side, so that makes 15' distance to screen. We originally bought this for our BR which would have been around 14', just a bit over their 12.5' distance, but the spot was too small so in the LR instead. There I do agree that 50" is too small (shows 58" or larger recommended). Not a big deal, but I'd get larger if I did it again.
In "my room" I have a 110" screen where they recommend 27 1/2'. The seating is either around 14' or 18' depending on the row, for which they recommend 50 and 58 or larger. MUCH too small IMO for a dedicated room.
