RE: With OPPO 105 do I need a receiver?

Posted by dbphd on January 25, 2013 at 01:24:44:

I have an Oppo 95, but for the issues you raise it's likely functionally equivalent. It has 8 RCA-type analog outputs for 7.1 and a pair of XLR analog outputs for balanced stereo. The menu has most of the functions you would find in a processor, including speaker configuration, distance, etc. I'm pretty sure it can input directly to an amp. I use the volume control of a processor, but the Oppo remote has + and - buttons labeled volume, so I suspect it can perform that function, although I've never tried it. You might download a copy of the users manual to determine if it will do all the functions you require.
