Panasonic ST50 Screen Issue
Posted by baileyjp on November 26, 2014 at 12:39:55:
I have a 55 inch Panasonic ST50 plasma TV that is a couple of years old. In the first year (when it was under warranty) I noticed a thin red vertical line line on the screen, located about 12 inches in from the right edge of the screen (that's a guess--I could measure it if that's crucial information). I called Panasonic and we went through a procedure --a hard restart? or something like that--and the line went away. Last week it returned, Panasonic won't service it because it is out of warranty. They referred me to some authorized repair shops in the area. My question is: does anyone have any idea what this problem is (see picture) and what it might cost to repair it. I'm loathe to pay someone to come out here and look at it only to be told it is going to cost $1000 to fix it.Note that the red vertical line looks closer to the edge of the TV than it actually is in this picture (this is part of the set-up menu and a section of the screen is black). Also the picture got flipped counter clockwise by 90 degrees when I posted it.
