Well, if you still have the TV plugged into the cable TV line/decoder/antenna/etc. (not sure what you have, as you didn't say), then certainly it can still be damaged.
I just got through diagnosing a lightening struck Panasonic Plasma for a friend- prognosis is not good for it- it took the strike right up the HDMI input from the cable box and still fried EVERY HDMI input on the set...
If Samsung is offering you 50% towards another set, I'd personally go for it!
