That's a possibility for me as well: I have a "new" (display model) Oppo bdp-95 that I bought to replace my aging Esoteric DV-50. Once I swap that into the system I might try the TV receiver via HDMI into the Oppo, thence to the balanced L,R out and single-ended outs into my surrounds and ICBM bass manager (essentially my 5.1 music routing). But my experience has been that my Anthem AVM 20 with its THX processing and room correction generally handles movies better in digital.
