Nope, never gone smaller.

We went from 50" to 65" recently, what a great change. The 50" is now in our bedroom, perfect size for a bedroom to us.
The 65", a bit small, OK a fair bit smaller than we'd have if money were no object. I'd go at least 80" in our LR (around 15 1/2 x 17 1/2 feet, we watch along the length, so sitting at around 15').
In my big room downstairs we sit at around 15' also I think (room is 24', but the screen is a few feet in as is the main low couch), and a 105" drop down. With movies and TV it's great. Played video games once, just about got dizzy. In that case, I think too big (but only for games, which neither of us do).
How far will you be sitting from the screen is the important question?
