that it is safe to say that Rotten Tomatoes has their collective head up their ass! You can pretty much discount their opinion anytime in the foreseeable future. The ONLY film in recent memory that even remotely approaches the status of some of the greatest is Green Book and it certainly does NOT belong in a top 30 list! LOL! I walked out of the theater when I went to see Mad Max: Fury Road... I thought it was a waste of film!

list like that are entertaining, but opinions can never be interchangeable with facts. Some people get steamed over these types of lists, perhaps objecting to opinions they think factual, perhaps because the opinions are published, and in a list. which is a form also used for factual presentations. like putting an idiot in a lab coat to pitch a product they want you to buy.
A car salesman will use the same power of assumed facts when he writes down the price of a car. there it is, written in ink, on paper, things like that can't be changed, or even challenged. thus a salesperson assumes the power of leadership in the price negotiations. (hint, bring your own, bigger marker, to the table).
This is a list of opinions, and one opinion is about as good as another, depends on perception.
I can only assume you saw mad max in a pedestrian presentation. Kind of like taking a land speed record car up the drive way and back and then wondering what the big deal is.
I alway seek a state of the art big budget house to watch big budget state of the art action movies.

Their top 100. Many are top IMO, and yes many are duds... YMMV
I am not too sure of your top films, but some listed are top IMO. Some of the picks are crazy also IMO... You find fault with all? What do you consider top movies?
That's like using that tattooed diner guy for restaurant recommendations...
There are reputable lists compiled by professional movie critics; cross-referencing them is very useful.
We aren't in their world.
Huh??? I saw maybe 4 that might be on such a list. This list was obviously "compiled" by an idiot,
but agree that it was compiled by an idiot..... Apparently it doesn't take much anymore to have a website, blog or a "journalist" credential...Sad....
"agree that it was compiled by an idiot"
Well as I wrote below it was "compiled" by an algorithm.
1. Filter the rotten tomatoes database of movies and keep the set of movies that have 40 or more critic reviews.
2. Rank the rotten tomatoes score for this database.
3. List the 30 movies with the highest scores in order.
Note that step 2 is also an algorithm, although with some human judgment. Each critic review is placed into a "positive" or "negative" category by a human. The numerical score is then easily calculated by an algorithm, based on these placements.
I didn't mean I only watched 4, but that I only counted 4 on the list I felt might make such a list. I can see how my post confused some.
as this sort of clickbait is often questionable. But I did find this:
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/top/bestofrt/
which more or less confirms the list, and importantly, tells how it originated. These are "movies with 40 or more critic reviews," so that probably eliminates 99% of all movies from the list right there. Then it is based strictly on the RT score, which as we all know, is a bit questionable, as a nuanced review is always reduced to either a ripe tomato or a rotten tomato, up or down.
So in general, it is a pretty useless list.
and if the OP had a clue he would realize that Rottentomatoes is an aggregate site collecting reviews across hundreds of movie critics.A best-of-list at RT as a percentage merely means that most critics liked a movie. This requires the critic to give a thumbs up or 3/5 stars.
It is highly possible that 98% of critics all liked a movie enough to give it a barely above average 3/5 star recommendation. Controversial films where many critics view it as a masterpiece but others are old geezer crybabies who can't hand sex, violence, or understand satire, those films may have 15% of critics give it below 2.5 stars/5
However, it may get 70% of critics who give the film 5/5
The overall RT score for the second film may only be 85%, but it is held up as a masterpiece while the film that got 98% no one considers a masterpiece.
Then some dimwit with a website culls the highest % scores and makes a best films list. Worse is that some snowflake conspiracy-minded dimbulbs do zero research on this and post clickbait nonsense on this forum to create a controversy where none exists.

of Sin." "Old Boy." "Burning."
All of these, of course, are foreign language films. To eschew them for that reason alone would be tantamount to ignoring classical music for the same reason. And I just threw those great film names out there--- I easily could mention another 25 or 30 or more.
If I'd only seen 50 films, maybe ten of them by mistake. There are actually some good films on that list, which is the biggest surprise it has to offer.
There must be more "TOP fill-in-the-blank" lists on the interweb than recipes for cookies,
probably only behind porn sites. Most of the "major" lists, by either noted or noteworthy organizations or people associated
closely (professionally, et al) with the subject tend to seem pretty lame - any others (like
that list sans criteria) just seem really incredibly stupid and a complete waste of time.At the end of the day, just goes to show what opinions as lists are like.

Maybe it's actually their list of the 30 most popular movies currently?
