Billy noted this one below, but I'm just now getting a round tuit.
Drawn out, misdirections everywhere, somewhat incohesive, this episode was more like getting the band back together for a reunion gig. A cliche' of itself. It should have played in casinos.
Loose ends tidied up or killed off, leaving no doubt that this was a finale of the old guard. Some of these characters might be resurrected in the future, but they are not getting younger, so any Bond continuance will likely be a reinvention of sorts.
Sad to see some of the regulars sign off, but its a cinematic metaphor for life. IMO, the female 00 agent is a loser. Hope they drop her in a hole.
Craig opens up a bit more in this one, getting chatty in spots. That's different. See this one for closure, but I think its the worst of the Craig series. Not bad, but it leaves me not looking for the next one. Which is what they wanted because there ain't one.

Connery did exude menace and was cruel, as was the book's character. Craig returned the franchise to respectability after Moore's attempt to make it light comedy. Outside of this latest one, that I found amusing in places, I enjoyed all the other Craig's. Certainly, the villains were amazing actors, mostly, and the action scenes were wonderful. The female 007 was an epic mistake; unattractive actress, ZERO charisma, bad writing.
Bond, RIP.

if it's the worst of the Craig Bond efforts then it must pretty much be a POS, not just not bad.
He's a great actor, being free of 007 must feel RIGHT for him.
I'll wait to see it when the rental price drops from $19.99 to $1.99.
I've felt that way about it for over a year now...
James Bond died with the 20th Century, no one bothered to tell him though.

Craig really is a wonderful actor. Unfortunately, the Bond films didn't give him a chance to show that.

Great way to sum it up. 007 was perfect for the sixties but even then the production team had to juice fairly new books with kookier plots and technologies that weren't for prime time.
There are three directions to head: back to the past, back to the future, or off to the graveyard. We've had the promise of James coming back, so where will Doctor Who put him? I like the idea of sticking to the timelines of the original books and making them more dramatically intense without saving the world in every film. That will present a problem for the more modern generations who expect the world to be saved, regularly.
The hired gun writers chopped off his third leg. And were forcing him to learn the "new way". If this continues to be the drumbeat I won't be long for the series.
Just don't have James and Q Qing up.
There are "deep state" themes floating about, but I don't think substantial enough to float another franchise.
I'm Bond, Jambalu Bond. Will it be time to call it a day?

I'll give you Casino Royal and maybe Skyfall but not Spectre or Quantum of Solace - two trainwrecks. The latter is one of the worst Bond films of the entire run. And have all of the problems you listed times 5. Spectre was just flat-out boring. Solace was an incoherent mess.
