My wife is driving me crazy with that one, for we have been unable to find any traces of it, but we both loved it back then, and would like to see it again. The film has Alberto Sordi in it, as the guy who sells his eye to raise money to please his wife.
I believe it is from the late sixties, and in Russia it was caled "Boom".
Follow Ups:
Joseph Losey (blacklisted) director, based on Tennessee Williams play starring liz and dick. Currently being toured by John Waters--a campy evening all around, even if he doesn't quite get it. Melodrama and camp oft confused.
It was simply lost between many other Booms... this one is from 1963, called Il Boom, by De Sica.Unfortunately even BestVideo didn't have it. However, we are lucky to have TLA in here in Phily, I believe voted the best video store in the country, or some such...
Unfortunately their site doesn't respond... but I shall keep trying.
Not to be confused with La Boum, with the darling Brigitte Fossey... a gentle but lackluster film about French teens.
