Does anybody remember Beowulf? It has a great look and the performances come through the encasement of special effects. We really enjoyed it- particularly Crispin Glover's Grendel whose combo of rage and loneliness was deep and moving. 2D was a-okay with us.
My girlfriend informed me the story is old as the hills, taught in English classes, everyone has read the book , blah blah. I missed that class...
To me, Beowulf is a movie - an entertaining fantasy with terrific special effects and excellent over the top violence. My educated girlfriend liked it too...

The TV series was pretty good--mostly--then just disappeared !

The movie (2007) has more drama and fantasy than the original Danish tale. (or was it Saxon?) Fwiw, the movie does adhere to the original story. The story itself comes from the time before Saxons invaded Britain. Before the Viking era. The manuscript itself was produced much later in anglo-saxon England sometime in the 10th century.
It was required reading 2nd year college literature for me. Fortunately we were allowed to use a modern English translation. I still have that book. And the book itself is a good read for those who like reading ancient myths.

She could kill, I'm certain of it.
But what a way to go.
Loved the book, an epic poem written about 1000 AD. A Swede coming to bail out the Danes.
