I am a two channel guy.Thats how I listen to music. I bought this receiver for the home theater I'm putting in my rec room. But this thing can do it all.You can turn off all video signals and use the pure direct mode for the cleanest stereo you'll ever hear. But the surround is why you buy a piece like this. For starters, processing ,processing ,processing. With THX 6.1 descret,DTS extended descret, the receiver will processing just about every digital signal out there. And with 125 watts, there is more then enought power to do what you have to do. There is another review on this forum for the Denon 5800,which is a monster also. But if you don't want to spend an extra $1000.00 for a little more power and some more inputs that you'll never use, then this is your receiver. If you want to use a DVD-A or an SACD player then this is want you want.It has the analog inputs to for wahtever format you use. Video? It will support 480p,720,1080i and of course if you use a progressive scan DVD player....well you're golden with this piece. The sound and separation have to be heard. Provided you have a good system around this receiver you will hear new stuff in your music. If you're two channel,or surround guy,you can't go wrong with the 4802.

Product Weakness: Its heavy.
Product Strengths: Processing.Pure Direct Mode and THX 6.1
