Maybe a receiver is not enough for the big speakers at home, also the subs may not be well setup...

Funny you should say that. The M665s are very efficient, nevertheless, I picked up a 2 channel Kenwood KM-X1000 130 watt x 2 channel amp for the front main speakers. Definitely more power, but much less sweet sounding. The fellow I bought the Kenwood from was nice enough to take it back.I'm have to check that I used the correct outputs from the Onkyo because I don't think I can get DTS out of it yet. I am also pretty sure that my sub placement is less than ideal, but no options.

I am only guessing, but your problem seems to be bass, the receiver sounds good, I had one too, but not the same bass as from separate power, had Rotel, now Bryston...Anyway, bass is quite complicated, speaker positioning, large or small, sub setup...
