I too have been looking for a 32 to 36 TV. So far the JVC 32" D Series seems the best compromise. It has component inputs as well as better than average speakers built in and a reasonable price. My local Sears store has them on sale. The best 36" direct view I have seen is the Toshiba with the progressive scan system ($3000 CDN!). The thing to remember about large TVs is that they are heavy & the cost of shipping may kill any savings you get by buying on the internet. For example a Sony 36" wieghs 195 pounds!!
Consumer reports has done several reviews on large TVs. They do provide useful information as to which remote is easiest to use & which works best with cable or an external antenna. Try the current December issue.
You guys should check out the Progressive Scan offerings by Loewe. The 36 inch hdtv will be releaseed in January for $5k. I have seen the 31 inch of the same model ($3500) and it is amazing. I recall my dealer alerting me to the fact that all of their tv's are progressive scan.
I have seen it. Looks great, but out of my price range.
