Gah! Scrap the entertainment center altogether and just go with a front projection system. If your room is 24 feet long, I'm sure it's fairly wide as well... just think about a screen 8-10 feet wide!Probably not quite the answer you had in mind, but you need to ask yourself if you want to base your TV viewing around your furniture or around your TV... Entertainment centers take up too much space, restrict your equipment choices, and don't allow for enough heat dissipation for the gear once they're in place. That and with a screen you have the flexibility of having a roll-down screen (manual or electric) or hiding the screen with 'window treatments' or something. get some decent shelves for your media, etc. and your room is opened up a lot more.
Head on over to www.avsforum.com and check out the groups there under display devices for more tv recommendations. While you're there, check out the cheap digital projectors. The new Sanyo PLV-Z2 sounds like it's cooking...

Great advice. Get some nice equipment racks at audioadvisor.com, and a front projection system. Don't rely on those "calculators" for how big your tv "should" be for your room. They never seem right to me.
