Has anyone seen this new Toshiba LCD at Best Buy? To the best of my knowledge, this is the largest LCD made by Toshiba.I saw it today at Best Buy, and the picture was stunning. I compared it with the Sharp 30" LCD (admittedly, an earlier generation LCD), and assuming they were both getting the same feed, the Toshiba picture was superior.
The Toshiba goes for 3,000. I also like the picture of the Sony 30" LCD. When first released, it was expensive at 5,000, but Circuit City has it marked down to 3800 now. I'm not sure 4" is worth 800.00, and I predict the Toshiba price will fall somewhat as we approach Christmas.
I have actually been impressed with the picture quality of LCD and now prefer it over plasma.
I have read that burned-out pixels may damage a display. While LCD TVs are somewhat different (e.g., brighter) that LCD computer monitors, the move toward LCD computer monitors doesn't seem to be slowed by this concern.
I'd be interested in hearing what other readers now about LCD TV. At present, I am hoping for price to continue to decrease while the screen size increases. It would seem that for watching movies, any size smaller than 26", if not 30" (Sharp, Sony) or even 37" (Sharp), is just too small.
Follow Ups:
I have to agree. Just saw the Toshiba and am very
impressed. The improvements in quality in LCD are
simply fantastic, although the stores always have them
at full contrast and sharpness and on HD.
I like the Plasma screens but they buzz rather loud at higher altitudes (I live in Colorado). They may also buzz a little anyway... listen closely in a quiet room, not a noisy home electronics store. I believe Sharp has a 37" LCD but still terribly expensive. I plan on waiting another year to see where prices fall as LCD's are still even more expensive than Plasmas.
