For those video guru out there, is there any one who can add a digital OUT for a DVD player and a digital IN for a DVD recorder? The digital IN and OUT are facilitated on the CD player/recorder, it is time for the video too. Thank you for your inputs.

This is still thin ice area. The manufacturers could do it, but dealing with the Hollywood studios, the DMCA and all of the other things that go along with digital copying would be more of a hassle than it was worth at this time. There are DVD players with digital video outputs, but they use DVI and HDMI connections. Unfortunately, there are no DVD recorders that have DVI or HDMI inputs.
Now, there is a way to get digital video to a DVD recorder from another source. Many of the digital camcorders made today have firewire (aka i.link, aka IEEE1394) outputs and a few DVD recorders have firewire inputs. If you want to transfer video captured on these camcorders with an all digital path (no analog conversions), this is the way to go.
If I remember correctly, Pioneer released a DVD recorder (the model number had 7000 in it) in Japan that had a digital audio input. However, I believe it only accepted 2-channel LPCM.
