Don't go for anything less than a 7.1 receiver/processor (the Denon is a very good choice), even if you have to upgrade the 5.1 speakers to 7.1 speakers later on.Not familiar with today's Polk "sound" (last Polk speakers I heard were the SDA-SRS Reference speakers from the '80s), so I can't comment on them.
