Does anyone have any recommendations as to the best (in terms of picture quality and number of outputs including HDMI) DirecTV receiver without Tivo?

Hi,I think db has it right with the H-10. I bought mine this past Spring and even then there were rumors that DirecTV was revamping their HD, and that the H-10 was going to be replaced. I haven't been following but haven't heard anything from DirecTV about this in their newsletters, etc. I would try and find out if I were you. I am happy with my H-10 --- it is much, much better than the Mitsu it replaced. Actually, while researching for the new receiver, it seemed to me that everyone but DirecTV themselves have stopped offering DirectTV receivers.
That's my experience anyway.
We had a top on the line Sony HD receiver and a separate Sony TiVo, so you had to choose either the convenience of TiVo or HDTV. We found that we nearly always chose TiVo. Now we have a DirectTV HR 10-250 HDTV/TiVo and couldn't be happier. It also has an HDMI output. If I have a complaint with the HR 10-250 it's that it is much slower in selecting a program to record or in managing the the programs that are rountinely recorded than the Sony. The Sony HD receiver and TiVo are sitting on a shelf in a closet; I've been too lazy to offer them on Videogon. Neither has HDMI.
