Hi, I have a Sony DVD player, planning on getting a Pioneer karaoke player DVD555, and a 52inch tv. My budget is limited and need some advice for a home theater system for under a $1000. I prefer to have a 6 speaker system. Any suggestions for a novice like me. I have done some research and I know Bose is not a favorite. If I could afford it I would go with a Denon reciever from what I have read. Please help me anyone as I would like to try and get a system together before Christmas. Thanks ahead of time, ashman

Okay, since I received no replies on the previous post, let us make it a little easier. I have narrowed my choices for my AV receiver to an Outlaw 1050, Pioneer VSX36TX, and a Yamaha HTR5280. As far as the speakers, planning on getting the Energy Take 5 with the 10" sub. So any advice or suggestions on the three AV receivers mentioned above. Appreciate any advice. Thanks
Sorry to complicate things, but for your budget I would buy the Onkyo TX-DS575X receiver. It has the best processing chips of all you mentioned and more than enough power to dirve the Energy speakers you mentioned. You should be able to get one for under $400. Try PriceScan.com to get the best pricing. Onkyo lists their authorized online dealers on their web page. The Outlaw is a fine receiver for music listening but they just havn't come along in the HT area enough yet. For the extra $200 I don't think you would use the extra power it has and you would give up significant HT sound processing. I would avoid the Pioneer and the Yamaha would be my second choice but I think you will pay more for less.
Buy your Energy speakers from a dealer in Canada. They are around 30% cheaper and sometimes more. If you don't feel comfortable with that Pricescan has some pretty good deals on them. Energy is blowing out their older surrounds line.
