I am currently looking to upgrade my HT system and the first step is tossing my Yamaha 795a. I am looking for any advice that any members have on Companies/models that I should look into. I am trying to keep the total cost under $3,500. The system is used about 50/50 HT and music and the ability to produce a warm musical sound is imperative. The only other issue is that I would like to find a model that is future-proof so that I am not tossing it in a couple of years. The reciever or separates will be matched with a set of Canton Ergo speakers (LRC) and Jamo Surround 200s. Any and all ideas are appreciated.

Lee,I am in the same situation. Ability to play music very well is imperative to me. Everything I have heard from Arcam is FLAWLESS in this department, and now that they have a new receiver, I am definately looking hard at it. I would encourage you to do the same.
They are very upgradeable too. Considering you can get one for $1199 or less, I would spend more $$ on speakers. I can HIGHLY recommend over ANY speaker I have heard, the B&W Nautilus series. The SPM, or 805 is the way to go. I would pick them up on audiogon for around $1400.00. Go listen to them first. It is the only speaker that almost made me cry when I listened to "Brothers In Arms" on it!!! And incidentally, it was through an ARCAM amp.
If spending that on speakers is not an option, check out the KEF RDM series. The next best thing IMO.
If you want a sub, I can highly recommend a M&K MX-70. If you don't have a huge listening room. This baby has TIGHT bass down to about 29Hz when it rolls off.
It really is a personal decision. One of the guys at an audio shop here in town once told me "If it sounds good to you, then it sounds good." Perhaps the best piece of advice anyone could have given me about audio.
Good luck! And keep us posted when you make the move!
