Yes I am referring to a DVD player.
I don't know how else to say it. But here goes again. I
use my DDP-1 to decode DVD's as well as laserdiscs. It
was made for both DVD and laserdisc not just laserdisc.
Dolby Digital encoded laserdiscs transfer the AC-3 bitstream in RF ( radio frequency) not via PCM (digital).
The Rf output is for laserdiscs, the coaxial and optical
inputs on the DDP-1 are for digital data transfer from
DVD players or satellite. Yes the DDP-1 decodes DVD's.
