I have NHT 1.5 in-wall speakers in the ceiling as rears in my 5.1 HT setup. The fronts are conventional 1.5's. Rest consists of an AudioCenter One and a SubOne.

The tonal balance is identical between fronts and rears, so if you audition a 1.5 bookshelf speaker, you will get a very good sense of how the inwalls will sound. As you may know, the NHT line is very neutral and revealing, and really does need good amplification to shine - sounds like you are certainly OK there.

You could always audition some bookshelf 1.5's set up as rears and if you like them with your fronts, turn them back in to the dealer in favor of the 1.5 in-walls.
