This weekend my cable TV provider is offering free access to HBO & Cinemax programming, and the promotion just confirmed my belief that I don't want or need this stuff. There are a bunch of channels offering the same stuff at different times. And the movies are mostly mediocre.

Not much better than watching the same old Adam Sandler movies shown over and over again on basic cable. Not just Adan Sandler -- there are other movies shown repeatedly on basic cable -- you know what I mean. I'd rather watch Turner Classic Movies, PBS documentaries, and lots of good DVDs I borrow from the library.

Premiere of the last season of Game Of Thrones, Crazy Rich Asians, Isle of Dogs, and rerun of last season's Big Little Lies (a well received dramatic series)

I got my $10 worth right there. But yea, tons of older programming that we've either seen many times or simply don;t want to see.

I like HBO for Maher and Oliver and their other great series- Veep, Barry, True Detective. You can have GOT and all the other midevil crap,

I like it's Camping too and some of their original films and docs....oh and Real Sports.

Stream it, watch everything in a month. Cancel then get it again when they have enough new stuff.

HBO is not the go to place for movies. Netflix and Prime win that. Criterion for old movies.

I gave up on the recent True detective, didn't even watch the Finale.
I was liking it, but 8 hours of Slow and Depressed is several too many.
Veep is too much like the Larry David Show, it's funny, just too mean-spirited for me.
But BARRY, Wow!

I actually enjoyed this season's TD. Finale had a huge payoff making the (long, lol), wait worth it , posted on April 18, 2019 at 05:39:49

Still, Barry is near genius.

I realized I need to watch the Finale of TD, but it didn't seem to add up to anything.
I liked the ending , he just Left.
Alzheimers is terrible, that was my takeaway.
I actually preferred the first season.

OTOH, maybe I just didn't get it. That happened. Once... nt, posted on April 18, 2019 at 09:13:26

As it is, I loved them both and either could be my favorite, depending on the moment's mood.

Second season is better left undiscussed.

Shouldn't have survived, but did.
Both deserve to be seen again, but don't think that will be for a while...
