There was a lot of adult tension for this one to be rated the benign PG. For some reason, Burton thought he could pull Dumbo off the animation table and into real life. He certainly pushes all the politically correct buttons in the making. The heavyweight casting would be lost on the kids of this generation and does little to make the film more interesting or enjoyable. I guess a flying elephant was THE draw.

I don't remember the original so when I walked out after an hour I have only Burton to blame.

3.0 wonks for CGI, production, and casting
2.5 wanks for presenting misery compounded with political correctness

I could recite "Dumbo" by heart when I was five, and the previews of this Burton version gave me the creeps, so I didn't go. It's too important to me to ruin at this time of my life.

his two Batman films much more than the recent series of films. Sleepy Hollow, Sweeney Todd, Alice in Wonderland, Big Fish, Pee Wee and Edward Scissorhands ALL very good.... the rest not so much... I would not go see Dark Shadows as I was a HUGE fan of the TV show in the 60's and from the looks of the trailer it was ruined. I will see Dumbo as that is the ONLY Disney cartoon film I have never seen... so nothing to compare it to. So far the Disney conversions of cartoon to live-action films have IMO been good.... I LOVED the Cinderella redo but The Jungle Book was not as fabulous to me... We will see about Aladdin in a few months. Though I'm not much of a Will Smith fan.....
