So many great actors. Beautiful camera work. I'm sure glad I wasn't a participant in 1863.

During my Laser Disc days, I got the deluxe edition (5 12" discs IIRC) which also included a book and an authentic civil war bullet. I also bought the soundtrack on CD. Living on the West Coast, I had not known about civil war battle re-enactments before I saw that movie (or, more precisely, "the making of" bonus disc). Not perfect, but still very moving.

General. Actually, you understand that Gettysburg was Lee's Waterloo. The battle shouldn't have happened and his persistent "up the middle" strategy was clearly wrong. Enjoyable for history buffs but a tad long for me.

Yes, 50,000 bodies gets boring.
