Is the 35mm version of once upon a time in Hollywood better than the digital version?

It is a very well crafted movie, I don't think you will have any problems. In los Angeles, I have to go to a revival house to see an actual film projection, perhaps your location is different.

I remember an interior scene in a bar as perhaps the darkest scene, and it was still good looking.

My suggestion is to go with a good crowd in attendance, the communal shared experience is uniquely human and adds a lot to the experience.

I was worried about the low iso/low light performance, but since most of it was during daylight,it worked out good.Story was good but a little weak.Good portrayal of 60s LA.That hitchhiking hippy girl was cute.

Personally, I was concerned about the thing tuning into an unwatchable splatter fest once i heard the manson family was in the story, knowing the guy is famous for making and enjoying violence on the screen.

I was glad the guy was not self indulgent in that way, and I found some of the other indulgences sly and entertaining.

It appears that the helter skelter theory may not be the purpose of the killings- just some odd rambling theory of C.M. It probably could have something to do with a drug deal. Yes I was glad Q.T.didnt try to rehash the actual killings but changed history instead.

That was the one and only, oft imitated but never equalled Musso and Frank, known to and loved by Angelinos and those who love to pretend they are from time to time...

Cheers

I didn't keep up, I think I was sixteen or seventeen at the time. One can say, if you ditch a deluxe pad in the hollywood hills so that the wrong crowd doesn't come around anymore, that is one wrong crowd.

I'm guessing the murders were a power trip, the guy was sore he didn't get a record deal, and took revenge at an old address in error, but had to dress it up as some cosmic insight super plan, so it wouldn't stink like plain old murder to his followers.

On second thought, I have to think it wasn't a drug deal as motivation for a killing, because I don't think the clan had enough money to get beyond the nickel and dime drug situations that don't get people killed.

Of course, those guys, the gang, had a low trigger point, so I could be wrong.

Did you catch the recreational sheet music used in the non murder house? Straight shooter, how odd.

I think Manson kept most of his followers from finding out about some of his criminal dealings. He had women in his group that he wanted to keep around but couldn't afford to support them so he tried all kinds of activities to pay for it all like stealing cars and selling drugs.I think he kept them entranced with his wild ideas and had a couple henchmen to do the dirty work.

That makes sense, insider subgroups are a common power device.

Back in the sixties, I was walking along , lost in teen aged thoughts, when this pretty girl offered a ride, which turned into going to a meeting at a house. I later came to believe this was a recruiting activity called flirty fishing, although I never solidly identified the group.

Me being me, I questioned the theology they presented after about the third sentence, until it was obvious they were nuts. I figured I wasn't getting laid when I saw it was a gathering of like minded thinkers, and I wasn't looking for life instructions, although I was told we were going to a church meeting. I didn't spend a lot of time getting out of there, but the argument was fun while it lasted.

While I am on the subject, I also disagreed with a scientology interviewer , also a very pretty female. She slammed her notebook shut and said this interview could continue when I was serious.

The crazy thing was that every year, for ten years, a two paged hand written letter was sent to my parents house, asking how things were going, stuff one would expect. I was working internationally and the letters caused my mother to worry, she asked if there was anything I wanted to tell her, she was afraid I had joined a cult. My mothers concern was kind of cute, considering the son she had raised, but I didn't like those nuts stressing my mother.

As you might know both manson and elron had studied some physiology for ways to exploit people in need.
