This film explores a military coup in the North during an attempted assassination of NK's Number One. The NK protagonist is a loyal soldier's soldier sent on a mission (unbeknownst) to kill Number One at the opening of a Chinese factory near to the border. The SK protagonist is a chubby national security adviser who becomes entangled early on as the NK guy flees south with the wounded Number One. What ensues is one of the stranger "buddy movies" made in efforts to prevent the coming nuclear war.

Action, shoot'em ups, and a good deal of humor! The SK's can make such all-around good movies! A laugh, a moist eye, and a good ending. They learned our formulas well.

Watched "Train to Busan" a couple weeks ago.

Had all that plus a great story and fine acting , great editing to boot.

The obvious Zombie issues had a rather fresh take too.

I've yet to see a SK film I didn't enjoy.

Have a LOT more of them still to choose from too.

Thanks for the Steel Rain nod.

"Busan" is my current zombie vehicle. Lots of heroics . . , posted on June 24, 2020 at 17:11:38

No telling when it will get released given current conditions.

Even if it's a couple notches down (or they start going all "Walking Dead") it should be good.

Well then, you'd love, "Snowpiercer." Same director, posted on June 25, 2020 at 12:46:47

"Parasite," "The Host," and best of all, "Memories of Murder." MoM is the best serial killer film I've seen--- with the exception of "Seven."

Thanks, will check it out.

Seen the others, all good.

Really enjoyed Okja too.

He and Tilda Swinton work mighty well together.

If you're a Tilda fan, "Souvenir" is a good one. Her daughter is the lead. I, posted on June 26, 2020 at 06:15:01

wasn't particularly taken with either of them, or the film overall, but the male lead was very good. Best of all, though, were the set decorations: gorgeous English period rooms and furniture. Beautifully filmed, too. (I forgot to mention that Tilda plays the her daughter's mom in the film...)

mid afternoon hibernation watch. The buddy aspect of it quite well done. To be honest, I had a little trouble separating the DPRK factions initially but went along for the ride and glad I did. Thanks!

+1 Good call! A heck of a movie and better than most action films. nt, posted on June 27, 2020 at 12:35:07
