Noir indeed for these stories, connected only by being located within underserved neighborhoods of DC.

Each segment has a different director, one being Pelecanos himself. The actors are people you have likely never seen, but this dark set works beautifully together to give you the despair of street life.

The first involves a cop who fatalistically lets go of his morality. The second is about an old patrol cop and a boy with talent who is bullied to the point of not using it. Third, about two teens sucked into drug selling. Fourth, about a man approaching middle age and finding that his life isn't adding to much, so he becomes a police informant to make money and boost his esteem.

Hard hitting and depressing at the same time, but this collection gives the sense of life in a part of society that we don't want to drive through.

Maybe unrealistically too dark, but well done and worth it. Short stories are typically intense. Find it on Streampix.
