The wife and I (and our 9 Y/O daughter for that matter) really enjoy quiz shows. The Weakest Link is back on again after a number of years, with a new host. The original host had a snappy personality, and we really enjoyed both the show and her antics.
The current host looks and sounds like she's reading off a script trying to imitate the original. The jokes are unfunny to the point of being uncomfortable. I get that type of humor, if someone can deliver it. She unfortunately can't. Thank goodness for recording and thus fast forwarding thru all the pain.
It's too bad. Bring back Anne!

A side note for game shows, Ken Jennings the Great will replace Trebek (RIP) on Jeopardy., posted on November 25, 2020 at 13:21:01

Billed as temporary, so I suspect the hunt is on for a long term host. Hard to imagine.

I hope the same quiz writers are still on board. I enjoy the challenge. Like Vegas, the house usually wins, but I do OK some nights.

Yeah, that's a tough one to replace. Alex was a TV staple, and as much as I generally don't see a celebrity passing any different than anyone else I don't know... his passing touched me a bit.
Hopefully Ken can make good of the position.

Levar Burton to be the next host.

Roots, Reading Rainbow, and of course Geordi in Star Trek TNG. He said he would be interested if asked.

Burton would be great, Reading Rainbow is excellent because of him...N/T, posted on November 25, 2020 at 21:32:48

You know, I don't think I've ever seen anything with him in it... can't say if he'd be a good host.

If not a fan, you can still dial up one episode (he's pretty much in all of them) and get a sample of his voice and delivery. Smooth as olive oil.

I watched the original Star Trek regularly way back when, but never got into any of the following shows. And I can't even recall hearing of Reading Rainbow, never mind seeing it...
If STNG or Reading Rainbow happen to come on I'll check it out, but not concerned really who's next for Jeopardy. Will likely just see what happens.

Trebek is irreplaceable but Burton seems a good fit.

Probably 90% of anyone else as potential host I wouldn't even
be familiar with, so...

playing themselves. Brent Spiner was Data and is always broke and Levar is helping out.

They are short little 8 minute episodes.

That was VERY funny! Thanks... N/T, posted on November 26, 2020 at 22:13:16

Star Trek the Next Generation is a better show than the Original series - so is DS9 which is largely responsible for "series arc" television shows where a whole season is one story. The network hated Star Trek Deep Space 9 (DS9) because it makes it difficult to run in syndication.

If you enjoyed the original then try and see an episode called Relics in TNG. It is a good Geordi episode and stars Scotty from the original series. He is a relic of time rescued from a transporter buffer and brought into the future. A great engineer who is now 75 years out of date and feels useless.
