Maud is a recently born-again young hospice nurse who assigned to Amanda at her rather large estate house outside London. Maud (Morfydd Clark) begins to proselytize Amanda (Jennifer Ehle) who was an international dancing star. Maud feels she has saved Amanda until a party one night where she finds an opportunity to humiliate Maud and her faith in front of everyone.

Things change and get weirder by the moment.

Dark, light-and-shadows, mostly filmed at night, helps promote the creepiness of Maud and her faith.

Not a must-see but interesting nonetheless.

It's billed as kind of a horror film, but it's really more of a low-key. . . , posted on May 26, 2021 at 01:01:06

. . . psychological thriller, and you soon realize that many of the "shocking" scenes are simply projections of Maud's wounded and fevered imagination resulting from the humiliations she suffers. Some posters complained about what they felt was the movie's slow pace - I didn't have this sensation at all. I found that I had a lot of sympathy for the main character, despite her serious psychological flaws. I liked this production and found it by no means a waste of my time - thanks for the heads up!

I agree and think the "horror" thing . . . , posted on May 26, 2021 at 11:09:24

was added own to attract viewers. Morfyyd and Ehle were excellent and I felt the horror at the end was kind of a throwaway.
