 Netflix has been adding a lot of old films and this one is a gem. No, it's not the old Chuck Connors brown faced version.





This one stars Jason Patric, Gene Hackman, Robert Duvall and a very young Matt Damon. It also appears to be quite accuarate with Damon narrating many parts and the horrible treatment of the Apache along with the lies and broken promises.

 Studi plays a perfect Indian. Last of the Mohicans, Hostiles, Dances With Wolves.

 I saw the movie upon its release because it had Wes Studi, was written by John Milius and directed by Walter Hill. It's one of the few movies that gets the details of the 1880s army uniform and equipment correct, though it omits infantry campaigning in their long johns; the infantry were quite active against Indians out west and could outmarch cavalry in the long run.

 Which means he IS a perfect Indian?!?

Now that's a lot of weight on his shoulders.

GREAT in an episode* of Reservation Dogs too, which is full of perfect
(and imperfect) Indians as well as Indigenous Folk.

And is an insightful, touching, fun and intelligent series.
