 Advertised as both 4 and 7 episodes on FX and/or Hulu, it is 7, confirmed by watching the first 4.
Based on a novel written several years ago, Bridges is the old former CIA op who's life of 30 years ago comes back in a rush.

The violence isn't just gratuitous; it moves the story along at decent pace. Great acting as you would expect from the leads. The Bridges character alternates between a soft sweet guy and a hardened black ops killer, trying to get his past re-buried.

See this one. You won't regret the time.

 Yes its pretty good -sagged at times--lots of innuendo which one needs to be 100% alert to figure out-
its leading somewhere but not too obvious as of #4 anyway.
They threw a curved ball with the Mr and Mrs Dickson popup-how/what/when/where etc --
no backstory nor relevance --well so far!
Yes love the Mutts!
Worth persevering till the finale though , Lithgow is a tad befuddled but adding mystery
How the hell the daughter evaded the Service entry screening?? -maybe one of those enticing twists you mention-ha!

I'm also enjoying Dark Winds, and just got started on Yellowstone, a real Pot Boiler.
Dallas meets The Sopranos in Colorado, filmed in Utah.
Everything you want, nothing you don't...
And I saw Silverado again, from 1985, with a VERY young Kevin Costner.

 Presented in typical Tony Hillerman novel style, unique and always great stuff, as seen to by Robert Redford, a producer.

There was a previous series, "The Skinwalkers" in 2002, with Adam Beech as Jim Chee and Wes Studi as Joe Leaphorn. In that one, the roles of the two characters were reversed, in that Chee was the old school Navaho believer, not a Stanford grad working an FBI desk job.

 I saw the earlier ones too.
I like Beech and Studi a lot, seen them in other roles too.
Do you think the Writers are taking liberties with the Novels?
Chee and Leaphorn just met in this current series.
Seems like the in older ones their relationship was solid.
You kind of know Chee will see his future at the Navaho Reservation
by the end of the First Season.

 I like the show, it's a little slow but I like it, although if he was on the run and hiding why did he take up with Zoe and compromise his position and how does John Lithgow not know he is working with Bridges daughter?

 Made the mistake of watching the trailer, which does a poor job of it, so I had passed it buy.

Then saw you folks liked it and gave it a whirl. I'm four episodes in after a single sitting. Completely hooked.

Bridges is one of the best and I've always liked Amy Brenneman.
