So Fassbinder has a traceable bloodline going back to the Spanish Inquisition in 1492. After he is executed (in the present) he regains consciousness the next day and wakes up to a smoking hot Cotillard. She and her daddy (Irons) have devised a time travel system that allows them to chase down the Apple of Eden. Possession of the Apple will allow the finder to take away man's free will making them mindless zombies. Seems that Irons and Cotillard are members of the modern day Knights Templar who have been seeking the Apple for 500 years or so. Fassbinder's lineage gives him prior knowledge and fighting skills of a god.

The film was cleverly shot mostly in a dark interior in the shadows. This made Cotillard smokin' hot from most any angle. The CGI was remarkable with all the leaps and bounds and magical parkour that took place anytime they were outdoors. This was more action-oriented than 'Rogue' and 12 levels more realistic. I felt physically drained after leaving the theater from all the physical activity and blade work I was forced to watch.

Not knowing anything about the video game, I presume the storyline follows it somewhat and would be highly appealing to the youts who play it. I suggest most grown ups just wait for cable unless you are overdue for a Slashapalooza.
