The Russian cinema of the recent years seems to be producing nothing but the purest form of ultra-patriotic garbage. It is not surprising, considering Mikhalkov is the head cinema committee guy, who makes his living brown nosing... when he is not busy kicking people in the face (literally, actually, while his guards are holding the guy). Scum produces nothing but scum.

They are eating it all up back at home - very pro-Russian and are about to tell the EU to ^%# off...They hope, Putin will help them get Kosovo back, and secure Republika Sepska's (Bosnia) referendum for independence.

I'm guessing the 2016 film is a remake of the 1977 version. That one was directed by Ridley Scott and featured Harvey Keitel and Keith Carradine.

It has been roughly since then that I've seen it but my foggy memory suggests that I liked it fairly well. Very dramatic stuff.

The visuals were stunning...most of the 'modern' viewers would find it too slow and boring.

That was Scott's first feature film and a really fine movie.
