I thought "Get Out" had some great moments but the ending... the ending!

The ending was a complete cop out.

The original has been long forgotten but us old timers were in on the ruse.

I'm old enough to of seen the Katherine Ross "Stepford Wives" and "Get Out" did have similarities - but to me, I didn't dismiss the film as "been there, done that".

I thought "Get Out" captured the subtleties of prejudice and racial stereotyping in a creepy, thought-provoking way.

The entire film had a weary, familiar isolation hanging over the main character - and as I suggested in my original post, *the ending* abandoned the entire concept of what the entire movie was trying to say.

I enjoyed the soundtrack. Doesn't seem to be available except for MP3 download.

The to-rent version of this movie on Amazon Prime indicates that there is an alternative ending; has anyone seen it?

pbarach - Yes I saw it. In my opinion, the "alternate" ending was much better because it was a continuation of the films message. In the theatrical release ending - a character who was basically was peripheral comedy relief shows up and ends up being the hero.

the director wimped out...

More likely the studio did., posted on June 14, 2017 at 14:58:18

Given that scenario.

jusbe- On the commentary the writer/director Jordan Peele justified his decision to change the ending and he mentioned Daniel Kaluuya wasn't in agreement with the new theatrical ending.

It appeared to me it was not a studio decision or a decision based on test screenings.

did you see the movie? The two movies are very different ,they tell different stories, so much so it prompted my first question. Obviously I miss the connection you see. Perhaps a hint as to your reason would clue me in. As an old timer , I saw no ruse, perhaps I saw a classic .
