called "Let the Right One In." From Sweden
English Subtitles so you may not like it.

Never fear there is supposedly a decent Hollywood remake (have not seen) called "Let Me In" It will likely ramnp up the gore and effects and lose some heart.

$2 million box office. So I figured it was probably missed

The general opinion was that the English subtitles for that movie were laughably bad and the dubbed version (which I saw) was preferred.

Wow, had no idea the take was so low. We loved it and saw it in a pretty full Angelica on opening weekend, posted on May 21, 2017 at 06:46:35

I guess the artsy fartsy crowd supported it but it had no legs.....

...it was regarded as one of the best vampire films made.

I thought it was terrific.

The remake not so much.

tinear extolled its virtues to the heavens. I saw it but thought the Amurican version was much better. There is no substitute for lots of production money. Chloe Grace Moretz stood out.

Great film whereas the American remake is fair to middlin'..., posted on May 21, 2017 at 12:51:52

Yes intriguing obscure semi Noir masterpiece--I saw it years ago

Good one Richard!

Agreed. I thought the US remake was pretty good too, and the book was really good. Nt, posted on May 24, 2017 at 21:52:41

Cats have your back. They act all selfish and cool but they'll protect you from dogs and vampires.

See here best cat in the world! Everyone has probably seen this by now - but I still get a kick out of it.

Definitely under the radar. Stars Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, John Hurt and Mia Wasikowska. Most of the music is by SQURL.

Excellent film. American remake isn't bad either, mainly because it flew off in other directions.

Although the vampire genre may be a bit long of tooth, I'll confess a favorable bias. LOL

Cheers,

An excellent atmospheric take on the Vampire genre with an superb cast directed by Neil Jordan. A beautiful vampire is just trying to survive and must continue to run from her own.

Probably my favorite Indie vampire flick. It takes place in Iran of all places! Moody, dark, and fun.

Byzantium - Thank you for the reference - I will check it out. Rotten gave it a wishy-washy 63% but that's never the bottom line...

The Swedish version is hands down superior to the American version...

But if you absolutely hate sub-titles the American version is still pretty good. Just not as good as the original.
