I get the headlines, and I've seen his name in film credits, but why is he so embedded in the industry? Every actor on the planet seems to know him or had befriended him. I don't follow the politics of movies, so I'm not catching on well.

He was the Nero of Hollywood who could make and break others a dozen times a day. But, that's the way it works: Smart ugly guys rule the world and get the women whether they like it or not.

...about Harvey.

Being that he seems to fit the mold. The stereotypical casting couch rapist. Ugly. Fat. Wealthy and therefore powerful. I could see a satirical cartoon character in the making here.

Perhaps there were many Moghuls like him over the years enjoying life and popularity. Likely they decided who would win Oscars. I think there will be more like him in future and we will all go enjoy the movies and Awards shows.

...by sexually assaulting and raping women and getting away with it.

Sounds like you're ok with that.

If all films, associated with Harvey, disappeared tomorrow, I would not lose any sleep.

I will tell you more... if he took the whole Hollywood from 1970 with him, I would say Good Riddance.

Sorry, can't help it. I'm weak.

I recently watched a replay of Death Wish; Charles Bronson, 1971. A cult favorite for sure, with some over-the-top characterizations, but it had a sense of realness that seems missing a lot today. Scenes and locations were real; actors acted in real dialogue with others. Seems like a small thing, but the sum was a better film for it. One scene, where he's burying his wife in winter, was in a real cemetery in a real blizzard. The actors were really cold. Authenticity -- no billion-dollar CGI and 6 miles of scrolling film credits.

who founded Miramax, with his brother Bob, which makes him a big-whip (no pun) producer type. A lot of good product out of the organization. Too bad about the ugly underside.

He is a hell of a promoter. Large sums spent on industry rags during the time members of the academy are going over the candidates. Sounds like he is a old school casting couch guy as well.

My God. What a wrong impression I gave. I was only saying women were forced to take it all for so many years. And the men of the media had put these moghuls on a pedestal.

...I misunderstood.

They're still forced to take it all from powerful men.

Let's keep the Gomorrah.

Dying to see next season, I hope Harvey can make it happen from his general population cell.

With wealth, cunning, and lots of clawing talent it seems it would be just like Hollywood. Da?

There are only so many people you can corrupt with $15. Anything bigger requires wife's authorization. :)

This is a great story and serves these Hollywood scumbags well.
The porn industry or the flip-side of Hollywood has always been referred to as movies on the "little silver screen".

As we know know, there is not that much difference in the daily operations
between the two sides. Let us not forget that the male actors have had to couch cast as well- as most of those executive types are (secretly) gay.
This is nothing new... a slice of humble pie anyone?

Mrs. Weinstein has her own fashion line that Harvey's actresses were also forced to wear on the red carpet and at the awards. Now she's filed for divorce and will likely get half his wealth, which will then be shielded from lawsuits any of his victims might bring in the future. Such a swell all-around power couple.
