...I'm going to step out on a limb and make a prediction.

The Post with Hanks and Streep will win best picture this year.

3 Billboards, Shape of Water, Florida Project, Lady Bird, Dunkirk maybe Mudbound and a couple of others will split votes.

The Post, about the Washington Post publishing the Pentagon Papers, in spite of Nixon's threats, will resonate with the left-leaning Academy voters in light of today's politics and it will win.

What do you think?

...Shape of Water got the most nominations.

But they split them up into two categories that don't make a lot of sense.

The film reminds us what a pile of claptrap (or something that rhymes with that) today's Washington Post is. ., posted on January 7, 2018 at 21:22:40

shithole
NOUN

vulgar slang
An extremely dirty, shabby, or otherwise unpleasant place.
'this place is a shithole, I hope you know that'

-Oxford Dictionary

To me, this whole tempest in a teapot over the word "shithole" is just trivializing things. Don't get me wrong - I do not support Trump AT ALL. He's a buffoon - and possibly dangerous. But those who oppose him are IMHO being very stupid in their opposition by going after the entirely wrong issues - like this silly "shithole" thing.

If they showed the final results it wouldn't even make the top 5

I thought it was a fairly unexceptional film with some big names ie a typical Oscar winner.
