Remember this one?

The Beast is a legitimate "tank movie" set through the perspective of the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. It's totally over the top but I found it captivating and poignant. At the very least, it reminded me of a good spaghetti western.

A good tank double feature suggestion - The Beast and Fury.

blew me away. What firepower! This film was an ode to why the Rooskies didn't win Afghanistan and the importance of learning religious words, though I doubt I could repeat the one that counted.

I'll have to dust off me copy.

Thank you for piping in Billy, I think I'm going to get a copy of that too...

I've seen actor Steven Bauer successfully play Latinos (he was Manny in Scarface) over the years and I always enjoy his performances- but in 'The Beast' he plays an Afghan and he apparently spoke fluently in Arabic?
My question - This had to be completely looped - right?

My guess is - you can't answer this question.. ha ha!

Odd how it only took the Soviets 10 years to learn a lesson we're still trying to grasp. ;)

in HBO's 'Sword of Gideon' long before Bana played him in 'Munich'. That was a pretty good movie also.

Bauer has been around, just look at his filmography.

No, don't capiche "looped".

The Israeli Tank version-- tad more gritty than Fury--which I agree had some terrific graphic moments

but sorta descended into Hollywood farce to conclusion--I wonder if Ayer gave over to the Studio bosses who longed for a conclusion befitting the times--todays I mean.

Guess we'll never know

Hi Billy - "Looped"

ADR

ADR stand for "Automated" or "Automatic" Dialog Replacement.

Dialog that cannot be salvaged from production tracks must be
re-recorded in a process called looping or ADR.

Looping originally involved recording an actor who spoke lines in
sync to "loops" of the image which were played over and over along
with matching lengths of recording tape. ADR, though faster, is still
painstaking work.

An actor watches the image repeatedly while listening to the original production track on headphones as a guide. The actor then re-performs each line to match the wording and lip movements. Actors vary in their ability to achieve sync and to recapture the emotional tone of their performance.

Silly me thought it was about jumping about in time. , posted on January 23, 2018 at 10:36:24

Netflix must be the looping center of the universe with all its international versions of their minis.
