Lost in Space on Netflix

So far I've seen the first two episodes. There are some important differences between this new reboot and the 60's TV series it originates from. Differences like; Will Robinson's robot and where it came from. Dr. Smith - big difference there. The circumstances of the crash landing and many more. There may be a war overhead, I'm not yet certain.

And of course we have females taking part in operations and solutions to problems rather than standing around and just looking pretty. On the whole the setup is much more serious and not at all silly as the original series tended to be.

CGI is definitely very good (a feast for the eyes at times) and necessary to the outer-space sequencies, necessary for the landscape of the planet they're on, necessary for many stunts and catastrophic events, miscellaneous pieces of high tech equipment, etc. So far, nothing gratuitous, everything counts.

and am impressed. There are some new twists which make this reboot more interesting. I'm wondering now if it's going to finish the story or end in a cliff hanger for another season....two more episodes to go.

You know the first two seasons of the original series were serious science fiction? Then Batman hit TV and was in LIS's timeslot, and it went campy to try to compete for the younger audience. Of course this was all before my time.

I still love the theme music from the original series.

The actor and character were so camp from day 1, he could have owned his own summer stock resort in the Berkshires. He was campier than Paul Lynde on Bewitched.

Great characters, great interactions between the characters. At first I didn't like some of the characters, but now I like them all a lot. The relationship between Judy and Don, for example - really done well.

The production values are sky high, every episode ends with a thrilling action piece. Best SF show in a long time.

...but it makes sense. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more links to the original series of this sort.
